calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is used as an important reinforcing filler in plastic & thermoplastic industry and has been studied by many researchers who have reported large improvements in mechanical properties such as strength, modulus and toughness.
Also it has been reported that the coating of CaCO3 surface with low molecular weight organic compounds like stearic acid changes the interfacial interactions between particles and polymer which modifies the debonding mechanism,failure behaviour and thus, the overallperformance of composites.
